When I first joined, I worked as a laboratory chemist in metal analysis, where I was responsible for implementation and monitoring of analytical methods and recording data of tobacco and smoke components. I then transitioned to my current role as a scientist for the Method Development Team.

For the first five years after joining JT Group, I worked as a laboratory chemist in metal analysis, where I was responsible for implementation and monitoring of analytical methods and recording data of tobacco and smoke components. This data helped us to ensure high raw material and product quality for our company. I also learned a lot about how the whole of JT International works, and this proved to be very useful down the line.

In 2018 I transitioned to my current role as a scientist for the Method Development Team. Aside from my main task of creating state-of-the-art methods for chemical analytes in new product areas, I am also responsible for order processing and personnel management for certain projects.

My experience has also shown me that you can achieve more in a team than you can as an individual. When the team has common goals, values and guidelines, working becomes easier and more efficient.

I have learned a lot about working in an ISO-accredited laboratory as well as the organizational structures and workflows of routine projects. With this knowledge, I have been able to develop analytical methods and validate them according to ISO standards.

My experience in the working world has also shown me that you can achieve more in a team than you can as an individual. When the team has common goals, values and guidelines, working becomes easier and more efficient. Key to a good team is also communication. The work environment is very interesting. We have every culture, age, personality type. The mixture of the Japanese culture and the European culture is a perfect fit to grow together and take the best of both worlds.

As scientists in an analytical laboratory, we must efficiently adapt our analytical method services to new products or international standard. I have to challenge and question my way of working every day. In the future, I would also like to be a part of the One R&D team, which stands for superior quality products and high consumer satisfaction.

I want to continue to work in this team where everyone has each other’s respect and where different opinions are valued. Everyone can speak his or her mind and talk about not just the positive aspects of a situation but also the negative ones, too. It makes our work easier and happier.

Communication across regions and departments has become easier due to technology. This allows us to have a strong bond through which we seek to reach our goals together. This unified approach in turn means that we produce the highest quality products for consumers, and I stand behind our products.
