Development of Ploom TECH / Ploom TECH+

Development of Ploom TECH devices required knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering.

I was involved with the Ploom series starting from April 2016. It was the time at which Ploom TECH (hereafter “TECH”) had just been released for sale in Fukuoka prefecture and on online stores. We had developed TECH by applying knowledge gained from “Zero Style” which aimed to be mild in smell, clean, and convenient. TECH was extremely successful and soon began to run low in supply. Therefore, we collaborated many times with the Marketing and Manufacturing divisions so that it could be mass produced while maintaining its quality. Although the development of cigarettes is centered around chemistry and materials engineering, the TECH devices required knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering as well. We went through many struggles, but thanks to the cooperation we received from many related parties, we succeeded in expanding its sales nationwide.

“Do the best we possibly can” under any circumstances in order to create products that we can confidently release to the world.

The development of Ploom TECH+ (hereafter “TECH+”), which we began next, had its origins in the R&D Group. To improve its user experience over that of TECH, it was necessary to increase the amount of vapor. We acquired hints on this from JT International’s E-vapor “logic.PRO,” and succeeded in applying it due to the technical support we had previously provided for it. However, since the lead time until release was so short, I was unintentionally moving toward making certain compromises, but that was when our development leader, my superior, told me “Let’s do the best we possibly can.” I believe that as a result of repeatedly examining prototypes until the last minute, we were able to create a product we could confidently release to the world.

Our mission is to further modify and develop the Ploom series.

I believe that our work actually begins after our products are released to the world. How can we apply the opinions we receive from consumers to new products? It is our mission to further modify and develop the Ploom series, which was created by the JT Group coming together as one.
